HealthNet Barrington Health Center Hosts Health Fair on June 13

HealthNet Barrington Health Center will host a health fair on Saturday, June 13 at the center, located at 3401 E. Raymond St.

The health fair, set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include free health screenings, including cholesterol/HDL for the first 50 people, blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, breathing test, and anxiety and depression.

Also available will be educational information about nutrition, diabetes, asthma, bike and car seat safety, HIV/STDs, dental care, anxiety and depression, and helpful tips for how to quit smoking.

The event also will include a bicycle raffle, free food, a moonwalk, face-painting, children’s games, prize drawings, and much more.

Free children’s i.d. cards will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The theme of this year’s health fair is, “Body, Mind, Soul – Let’s Get Healthy.”  “For more than 40 years, HealthNet has been committed to improving the health of south side residents and beyond,” said Booker Thomas, HealthNet president and CEO. ”This event creates a comfortable, casual environment for families to have fun together and learn how to live healthier lifestyles. Now is a great time to examine our health and the health of our families.”

Free parking will be available next to the center at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3101 E. Raymond St.

The center, which provides 12,000 patient visits annually, is one of HealthNet’s five, comprehensive health centers. The center’s mission is to improve lives with compassionate health care and support services, regardless of ability to pay.
