HealthNet Opens New Community Pharmacy to Expand Access to Affordable Medications and Integrated Care

New southeast Indianapolis pharmacy offers retail and specialty medications, home delivery, and personalized patient support

INDIANAPOLIS — HealthNet today celebrated the grand opening of the new HealthNet Pharmacy at Barrington, an expanded community pharmacy designed to improve access to affordable medications and coordinated care for patients across Marion County and Central Indiana.

Located at 3403 E. Raymond Street on Indianapolis’ southeast side, the new pharmacy offers retail and specialty pharmacy services, medication counseling, insurance and prior authorization support, and free home delivery for patients.

The opening comes as pharmacy closures continue to impact communities locally and nationwide, creating growing barriers for patients trying to access medications and ongoing care.

“Too many patients face unnecessary obstacles when trying to get the medications they need,” said René Kougel, President and CEO of HealthNet. “This pharmacy is about reducing those barriers—whether it’s cost, transportation, insurance challenges, or delays in care—and making healthcare easier to navigate for the communities we serve.”

HealthNet first opened a smaller pharmacy space inside Barrington Health & Dental Center in 2023. Demand for services quickly outgrew the original footprint, prompting renovation of a larger space in the former HealthNet administration building.

The new pharmacy is part of HealthNet’s broader strategy to integrate pharmacy services directly into patient care. Through a partnership with AndHealth, HealthNet is also expanding specialty pharmacy and comprehensive disease management services for patients with chronic and complex conditions.

Patients will have access to:

  • Retail and specialty medications
  • Personalized pharmacist support
  • Assistance navigating insurance and prior authorizations
  • Free home delivery
  • Sliding fee scale options for uninsured patients
  • Closer coordination between pharmacists and healthcare providers

For many patients, these services can significantly reduce delays, transportation challenges, and medication costs.

HealthNet patient and Board Chair Toby Salyers shared how the pharmacy simplified medication management during a difficult period caring for his partner following a lengthy hospitalization.

“What had become stressful and overwhelming suddenly became manageable,” Salyers said. “Having one pharmacy team helping coordinate everything—and delivering medications directly to our home—made an incredible difference for our family.”

HealthNet leaders say the expanded pharmacy reflects the organization’s continued investment in improving healthcare access and addressing gaps in care across the region.
