OB Triage Team Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

Since the OB Triage Team began in January 2016, Advance Practice Nurses (APN) have had more time to spend with patients. APN productivity is at 2.46, above target goal of 2.40. Patient satisfaction has also increased, as patients are now able to speak directly to an OB/GYN trained nurse. In the past, telephone encounters were created and our patients were called back, unless it was an emergent call. A nurse who was typically working with a provider seeing patients would answer the phone. On average, our OB/GYN nurses answered high priority calls within 17 seconds of when the patient was transferred into the OB/GYN queue, and normal priority calls were answered by an average of 58 seconds from time of call to transfer into queue. This is a huge win for making our patients our first priority by answering their needs in a timely manner!

Other team successes include:

  • improved documentation of telephone encounters,
  • abnormal lab timely follow-up
  • Standard physician and advanced practice nurse schedule templates which allow the triage nurses to schedule at all six of our OB/GYN locations

Tremendous thanks and appreciation for our triage nurses:

  • Jill Howard
  • Stephanie Webb
  • Traci Edick
  • Courtney Collier

Also thanks to Hailey Hannon and Samantha Hooten who also work in our Centralized OB/GYN Triage.

Lastly a huge thank you to Senior Leadership and the Centralized OB.GYN Triage Multidisciplinary Team:
