Black Lives Matter

We stand with our patients, staff and communities of color

6/25/2020

HealthNet condemns the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and many others. Their deaths, and the scores of those who have suffered similar fates, are part of a legacy of racism that pervades our society. We are outraged that social injustices continue to happen, as men, women and children of color face harm, discrimination and fear simply by going about their daily lives.

Born out of the civil rights and social justice movement of the 1960s, HealthNet has served for 52 years as an advocate for quality care and health equity for all.  As a community-based health care provider, we are first-hand witnesses to the direct effect of violence, stress, physical and mental abuse on the health and well-being of our patients – people on the receiving end of racism and discrimination because of the color of their skin, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, income level or insurance status.

At HealthNet, we hold a responsibility to be an anti-racist organization in order to help end it. Our work on diversity, equity, and inclusion at HealthNet and within the health care system is only the beginning of what we must do.

We are determined to stand with HealthNet’s employees, patients and communities of color as together we face and fight against racial injustice, because black lives matter. We will honor your truth, provide a safe place for healing and continue to advocate for your health and well-being. We are ready to work and to be the catalyst for real change in our communities.
