Better Indy Babies provides FREE prenatal home visitations to expecting mothers who are patients of HealthNet. A Community Health Worker (CHW) visits you in your home to offer support, and provide answers to your questions (prenatal education) to make your pregnancy healthier and easier. You will also learn more about services that are available to you through your community. Your health team makes it easier for you to get in touch with resources and agencies that can help make life easier for you. Your health team can assist in finding the services you need to have a healthy baby, including:
• Provider and health center visits
• Transportation
• Emergency food, baby supplies, food stamps, WIC, food pantries
• Maternity clothes
• Medicaid (if eligible)
• Preterm labor counseling
• Home visiting
The BIBS program is designed to promote a healthier you for a healthy pregnancy. Our efforts assist in healthy fetal development and reduce infant immortality rates, SIDS, and foreseen childhood health problems. When enrolled in the BIBS program, a team of knowledgeable professionals from HealthNet will work with you to provide the best services that fit your individual situation. This team includes:
• Community Health Worker (CHW)
• Counselor
• Financial Assistant
• Nutritionist
• OB Provider
• Social worker
